I realize that this date idea might be a little late for some of you, but you could also use it if you have a birthday coming up. With how crazy the holidays are we struggle sometimes to get our weekly date in. The Friday before Christmas we used our date night to wrap presents and do all of our last minute Christmas preparations. It was simple and fun at the same time. You never know what fun you can have with wrapping paper, tape, and bows!
For this date we planted our garden. I guess planting a garden can get expensive, but you can pick up some inexpensive seeds and plants if you search a little. It was fun to get in the dirt and plant our garden. We figure it will help us out with our grocery bill in the long wrong. It was a simple date, but was fun to get up and get moving 🙂
Our daughter will be ready to move from her crib to a big girl bed in a few months. It is an exciting time! We are trying to get ready with some “new” furniture for her room. First we headed on over to IKEA for an end table. They have these great little tables for only $10. We have a dresser from when my husband was a little boy. We decided to update it. So when we were at IKEA we look for new handles also. We’re still debating about whether or not we want to paint or refinish the dresser. We did find a couple of websites that would help if we do decide to paint. Here they are:
We don’t know about you, but one of our favorite parts of the holidays is all the lights and decorations. This date was simple, but a blast. We drove around to some of our favorite spots with lights. Near us there is a street that puts up the story of the nativity. There is also a circle that is named Christmas Street. Every house on the street decorates. It is a great time to chat and reminiscence.
We started the evening off with a scavenger hunt through our house. Tyler had to figure out very witty clues to figure out where we were going. The scavenger hunt ended in the car where there was a note that said “Although we’ve had fun we’re not done! Now it’s off to find a treat that can’t be beat.” We then went in search of the best chocolate chip cookie. We both decided that Kneaders had the best chocolate chip cookie. It was moist and had big chunks of chocolate. MMMMM…delicious!!
This was a simple yet fun idea we got from Ty’s step mom. Starting from home you flip a coin at every intersection. If the coin lands on heads you turn right. If the coin lands on tails you turn left. The first restaurant you come to is where you eat dinner. It was fun to go on a crazy ride through our neighborhood and then end up at a restaurant we had never tried before.
