A place for inexpensive date ideas :)

Monthly Archives: December 2012

We don’t know about you, but one of our favorite parts of the holidays is all the lights and decorations. This date was simple, but a blast. We drove around to some of our favorite spots with lights. Near us there is a street that puts up the story of the nativity. There is also a circle that is named Christmas Street. Every house on the street decorates. It is a great time to chat and reminiscence. multi-c7-led-christmas-light

We started off our evening by making some good old homemade caramels. We found the recipe here http://www.midwestliving.com/recipe/candy/caramels They were a lot easier to make then I thought they would be. We then played a guess the Christmas carol game that we found here http://www.flickr.com/photos/orangerful/4177287103/ We ended the evening by playing pictionary/charades. Here was the list of words that we came up with: Santa, Mrs. Claus, Nativity, Reindeer, The Grinch, Up on the House Top, 12 Days of Christmas, 9 Ladies Dancing, Ornament, Santa’s Sleigh, Sugar Plums, Nutcracker, 3 French Hens, Lights, Caroling, Stocking, and Christmas Tree. Some words were definitely more difficult than others. There is nothing like a game of charades or pictionary to get you laughing. caramels

This date had more of a graham cracker theme. It was fun. We started off by doing this graham cracker activity that Tyler found online http://www.wheatmania.com/allaboutwheat/awesomeactivities/grahamcrackeractivity.htm Then we started to create our gingerbread/graham cracker houses. We don’t know if our crackers were too weak or our frosting was too soft, but both of our houses ended up caving in before we got pictures. The picture below was our inspiration 🙂 ginger-bread-house-6
