We’ve had a few warm days recently which has us thinking about our garden. We know it seems early, but we’ve found that it’s not too early. For this date we sat down and planned out what we want in our garden. We also did some research on when the best time to plant is, where the plants should be planted, when to harvest, etc. We found that some of the plants that we want to plant should be planted in the next few weeks!
Here’s the site that we used for a lot of our research for our Utah garden

Happy Gardening!
We got creative again and used gingerbread man making kits to make a snowman and snowwoman instead! Let those creative juices flow!
During that time we read some snowman trivia on the internet, and afterwards played some snowman games. It was great fun!
We have been talking about painting some accent walls in our house for quite sometime. For this date we decided to actually paint one! In our Master bedroom we wanted to paint stripes on one wall. That was about all we had thought about before our date. We did some good old research. Who knew there were so many different kinds of stripes you can paint? You can paint vertical, horizontal, skinny, fat, multiple sizes, multiple colors, and the list goes on!
We decided on what we wanted and then researched the best way to paint our vertical stripes. We read a lot of different things and watched a lot of different videos. The most common things and the most help thing was to take time doing the prep work. It was fun to have an artist and mathematician come together to get some vertical stripes! Here’s our finished project
Happy Dating!
I realize that this date idea might be a little late for some of you, but you could also use it if you have a birthday coming up. With how crazy the holidays are we struggle sometimes to get our weekly date in. The Friday before Christmas we used our date night to wrap presents and do all of our last minute Christmas preparations. It was simple and fun at the same time. You never know what fun you can have with wrapping paper, tape, and bows!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving next week we had a turkey themed date. The first activity we did was making a turkey. We had 15 minutes and could use any items in our house. These are the turkeys we came up with.
After that we read some facts about turkeys that we found here
http://blogs.smithsonianmag.com/science/2011/11/14-fun-facts-about-turkeys/
and here
http://www.livescience.com/17057-turkey-facts-thanksgiving.html
Then we listen to what turkeys really sound like here
http://www.nwtf.org/for_hunters/all_about_turkeys.html
Finally we played a turkey bowling game that we found online here
http://www.primarygames.com/holidays/thanksgiving/games/turkeybowl/
This site has more games, but this was by far our favorite. We switched turns each level and laughed really hard at the turkeys. Happy Thanksgiving!
We both love this time of year. We love the change in the seasons, we love all the holidays, and we love all the yummy food. This date was a way for us to kick back and talk about things that we we’re excited for.
We munched on some of our favorite cookies and talked about our favorite things. We talked about our favorite holidays, traditions, activities, and things that we are looking forward to before the end of the year. It is funny that something as simple as sitting and talking together is so much fun for us. With our two year old and other responsibilities that keep us running sometimes we don’t take time to chat like we should.

That’s what I’m told you are supposed to yell when you are golfing and you are trying to warn people. I’ve tried golfing…we’ll leave it at that. Tyler loves to golf. Golfing however doesn’t really fit into our dating with coinage theme. Thus our golf date didn’t involve a normal golf course.
We started by playing a round of Wii golf. Tyler for sure won. He’s a great golfer! I don’t have patience for things that don’t come to me naturally.
We then built our own miniature golf course holes. Here’s what they looked like
(Batman on the white box proved to be an extra hazard. When you hit the box Batman fell right in front of the hole.)
Here are the competitors
After we had the holes constructed we played mini golf. I must admit our holes were a little advanced, but they were fun!
We ended the evening with a good laugh. Here’s a link to the video that made us laugh 🙂
Happy golfing!!
It’s good to exercise. So, why not exercise together?
For this date we started by doing some exercises from Pinterest that included ab and back stretching exercises. These are the exercises that we did: Abs – http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/26/24/cf/2624cf90357ce4e3e3ccc4ef7ec0c158.jpg and Back Stretches – http://www.fitsugar.com/Stretches-Relieve-Lower-Back-Pain-Open-Tight-Hips-409369.
That was followed up by some cardio on Just Dance 4. We each chose two songs to dance to.
It was a fun night of working out and being together!
It seems that with summer comes many parades…at least around our area. I went on a tour of a candy factory a few weeks ago and picked up some different kinds of taffy that we used as part of our date. What parade is complete without taffy? We did some taffy tasting to start. Some of our favorite flavors were red licorice, buttered popcorn, and macadamia nut. We would pass on the eggnog flavored taffy next time.
As we munched on taffy we looked up some facts about parades. Did you know that floats originate from medieval times? We didn’t! To round out our date we watched slides of this year’s Rose parade. Talk about some incredible floats!
